

Munir Rahim (Lab Director)
Dr. Rahim completed his Ph.D. at McGill University (Montreal) and his Post-doctoral Fellowship at the University of Ottawa (Ottawa). He worked as a Research Associated at the University of Ottawa and Dalhousie University (Halifax) before moving to the University of Windsor (Windsor) as an Assistant Professor. He is now an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
His research program is focused on innate immune responses against viruses and cancers.
He teaches Immunology (BIOM 3540) and Medical Microbiology (BIOM 3070) undergraduate courses, and Cancer Cell Biology (BIOL 8710) graduate course in the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
Graduate Students:
Mohamad Basem Alkassab (Ph.D. Student)
Mohamad completed his undergraduate degree in Pharmacy at Al-Baath University, Syria. He then completed a Master of Pharmacy degree at Jordan University of Science & Technology, Jordan. Mohamad joined the University of Windsor as an M.Sc. student in 2020 and transfered to the Ph.D. program in 2021. His research project explores the role of NKR-P1 receptors in immunity against cytomegalovius.

Ronaldo Eid (Ph.D. Student)
Ronaldo completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees at the University of Windsor. He started his Ph.D. degree in Winter 2025 semester. His research project explores the functions of NKR-P1 receptors in ILC biology and immunity.
Sophia Girgis (M.Sc. Student)
Sophia completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Windsor. She completed Fall 2023 semester abroad at the University of Leicester, UK. Sophia started her M.Sc. degree in Winter 2025 semester. Her research work is focused on the regulation of NK cell responses in mammary tumours.
Shradha Kaushic (Ph.D. Student)
Shradha completed her B.Tech (Biotechnology) degree at Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow and M.Tech (Biotechnology) degreee at the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow in India. She started her Ph.D. degree at the University of Windsor in Fall 2026 semester. Her research project explores NK cell dysfunction in cancer.
